On behalf of the Members of Council and Staff, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the website for our Project known as the Centennial Centre Expansion & new Aquatic Facility.

 

This website will keep residents and visitors updated on the progress of the Project.  Council encourages you to visit this site regularly and share in the excitement as the design starts to take shape and the planning for construction begins.  Watch our new facility take shape!

What’s New 

August 2010
    1) warm side foundations ongoing
    2) begin underground drains in basement of warm side
    3) pour street light bases in parking lot
    4) Pave north end of parking lot
    5) build walls for "olympia room"
    6) start masonry walls for dressing rooms
    7) begin steel erection of dressing rooms
    8) begin backfill of warm side. 

July 2010
    1) Formwork of warm side ongoing
    2) pave south end of parking lot and driveway.
    3) Complete hookups to restart arena.
    4) install and upgrade storm system for north end of parking lot
    5) install piping for parking lot lights
    6) prep and grade north end of parking lot for asphalt
    7) pour curbs and sidewalks at north end of parking lot 

June 2010
    1) Shoring of hill at northwest corner
    2) complete reinforcement of existing roof structure, and finish painting
    3) complete sprinkler rough-in of arena
    4) underground drains...cold side
    5) Site service: remove all parking lots @ home building centre, dig new retention ponds, install underground piping for storm system, grade prep parking lots and driveway.
    6) set up temporary change rooms
    7) install low -e ceiling in arena
    8) completion of foundation excavation in pool areas 
  
9) build hoarding wall at north end of arena and make weather tight
    10) install dewatering system
    11) Begin formwork @ warm side
    12) Install new sewer service to project
    13) begin sidewalks and curbs for south parking lot  

May 2010
    1) Continue excavation of cold side foundation
    2) Continue with forming, rebar, and pouring of foundations cold side
    3) Continue with reinforcement of existing structure
    4) demo at Home Building centre
    5) mobilize site services contractor, and begin removing retention pond
    6) Begin painting reinforced roof structure
    7) Begin rough in of sprinkler system in arena
    8) mobilize plumbers and begin underground drains on cold side
    9) Begin excavation of pool (warm) side  

April 2010
    1) Reinforce existing arena structure
    2) Build temporary wall on east side of arena
    3) Demolition of dressing rooms and TFA
    4) Begin excavation of new dressing room areas 
    5) Begin footings for dressing rooms 

 

March 2010
    1) Remove arena stuff
    2) Asbestos abatement
    3) Disconnect services
    4) Locate all existing services on the property
    5) Build temporary wall on east side
    6) Mobilize welders for reinforcement of existing roof
    7) Mobilize demolition crew and fence

February 2010 - Pre-Qualification Package for sub trades and services posted on Town web site,  Gravenhurst Banner and Daily Commercial News. 

 

January 2010 - Decision Committee Terms of Reference approved.

 

December 2009 - Committee directs CS&P Architects to proceed to Design Development and Contract Documents.

 

December 15, 2009 - Report to Council summarizing public comments received at Public Open House on November 30, 2009.  Please note a copy of the Report is available here!

 

November 30, 2009 -A Stakeholders Meeting and a Public Open House were held in order for CS & P Architects to present the schematic design drawings to date.  Also Dalton Company invited any trade vendors to submit their names to be put on list for construction suppliers.  Public Comments were also received.

October 20, 2009 Simcoe Muskoka YMCA will be the provider of services for the new Aquatic Facility & Fitness Centre.  Resolution passed at Committee of the Whole meeting.
