Current Notices Highway 11 Public Information Sessions Notice of Nomination for Office NOTICE OF A PUBLIC MEETING Being a General Amendment to the Town’s new Comprehensive Zoning By-law 10-04
TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst will hold a statutory Public Meeting pursuant to Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, on: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th, 2010 at 9:00 a.m.at the 5 Pineridge Gate
THE PURPOSE of the Public Meeting is to obtain public comments and consider a proposed amendment to the Town’s new Comprehensive Zoning By-law, being By-law 10-04, in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act.
THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT of the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is to amend Section 5.7.2.1 of Zoning By-law 10-04 by inserting new provisions related to the replacement, enlargement and extension of dwellings that encroach into the required setback from the Optimal Summer Water Level. The provisions would require that: i) the situation of non-compliance is not further increased; ii) the height of the dwelling is not increased if the dwelling is located within 10 metres of the Optimal Summer Water Level; iii) the width of the dwelling does not exceed a maximum width based upon the setback from the Optimal Summer Water Level; and, iv) the dwelling complies with all other provisions of the By-law.
The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment applies to all Waterfront lands with existing residential uses within the Town of Gravenhurst, therefore a key map has not been provided.
ANY PERSON OR AGENCY may attend the Public Meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support or in opposition to the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment.
IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst before the By-law is passed; the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst to the Ontario Municipal Board.
IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst before the By-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS AND/OR REQUESTS FOR NOTICE of the passage of the Zoning By-law should be directed to Nicholas Popovich, Manager of Development Services.

The second is open to members of the public and is set for September 23, 2010 at Muskoka Boat and Heritage Centre from 4 - 8 pm.

Nominations in the Town of Gravenhurst for the offices of: Mayor DISTRICT & TOWN COUNCILLORSOne to be elected at large Three to be elected at largeCOUNCILLORSWard 1 - One to be elected Ward 2 – One to be elected Nominations may be made by completing and filing in the office of the Clerk, nominations on the prescribed form and accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $200.00 for the Head of Council and $100.00 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, certified cheque or money order. A nomination must be signed by the candidate and may be filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours between January 4th, 2010 and September 9, 2010 and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on September 10, 2010 (Nomination Day). In addition to the Nomination Form, the Candidate is also required to file a “Declaration of Qualification” and provide photo ID. Faxes shall not be accepted.
