Planting season is fast approaching. To help with your planting choices, Hydro One has created some materials to provide you with information on vegetation and power lines. Tree contacts account for more than 30 per cent of power outages in Ontario. Before you plant trees near Hydro One's distribution of transmission lines this season, please ensure you are planting the right tree in the right location. Hydro One has made pamphlets avalaible entitled Right Tree, Right Place to help you decide which trees to plant depending on how close the planting location is to the distribution or transmission line. Hydro One takes tree clearance requirements for power lines very seriously and works to keep lines clear and safe from tree contact. With 122,000 kms of distribution line to maintain, Hydro One's forestry services have a big job on their hands. Please help them by ensuring your newly planted trees and shrubs never interfere with the safe operation of power lines in your neighbourhood. Together, we can all work toward reliable electricity service and still enjoy the beauty and value of trees.
