Gravenhurst Winners - February 2009

WinterLights Celebrations is the winter program of Communities in Bloom

The judges extend gratitude to the WinterLights Celebrations committee, all the dedicated volunteers, and City staff for their hospitality and hard work. Thank you for being part of the WinterLights Celebrations family of towns and cities; you are changing the face of Canada.

Winter Lights Program Site
WinterLights Celebrations is the winter edition of the popular Communities In Bloom program and encourages all Canadians to join in their community events and activities, and to experience the beauty and thrill of winter.

A committee of local residents representing Town staff, the BIA, Chamber of Commerce, Muskoka Wharf, businesses and local residents has formed to help promote Gravenhurst in the five following categories:

  • Visual Presentation
  • Winter Pleasures
  • Festive Celebrations
  • Goodwill Programs
  • Tourism & Promotion
  • Gravenhurst Welcomes 2008 Winterlights judges

    2008 – 2009 WinterLights Symposium and Awards
    are being held in Prince George, B.C.
    February 19 –21

    Results for each population category will be announced on Feb. 21
    Gravenhurst competed in the 10,001 - 30,000 category with:
    Williams Lake, BC - Brooks, AB
    Dauphin, MB - New Tecumseth, ON
    Edmundston, NB

    OUTDOOR ICE RINKS AVAILABLE

    Enjoy the outdoors and come skating for free!
    Gull Lake Rotary Park: Located on the ball diamond infield. The rink is available for pleasure skating daily, with lights until 10 p.m.
    The rink is maintained Monday to Friday by Parks staff.

    Muskoka Wharf: Located on the multi-use sports pad. One rink for pleasure skating, and the second with boards for hockey. These rinks are maintained by Beaver Creek’s Community Services Volunteer Group.

    The condition of the rinks are dependent on the weather.
    Help maintain our rinks – bring your shovel if you
    arrive on the weekend after a snowfall!
