Meet Skokie!
Skokie is our official Winter Carnival mascot! Skokie is an otter.
In 1971 when the Carnival was started, they decided a mascot was needed. They had an elementary school contest to decide on the mascot and an Otter named Skokie was chosen!
Every year we celebrate Skokie's birthday with a super-fun party on the Friday of Winter Carnival weekend. In 2026 Skokie will be 56 years old!
Skokie loves hosting the Winter Carnival and checking out all of the fun and games. Skokie is always happy to meet the fans - don't be shy! Come and say hi and share a high five or a photo with Skokie.
