Gravenhurst declares significant weather event: Feb. 14, 2025

The Town of Gravenhurst has declared a significant weather event.

The declaration suspends the standard timelines to meet winter maintenance objectives.

The town has made the declaration because of the high snowbanks along the sides of municipal roads. These banks, which have narrowed many roads, will take approximately two weeks to clear.

The town is making arrangements for private contractors to assist with removing snowbanks. These contractors will be using blowers to widen roads.

Regular winter maintenance operations will continue while snowbank cleanup takes place.

Because roads are narrower than usual in many spots, the town asks motorists and pedestrians to use extra caution when travelling around the community.

Please remember that overnight parking is prohibited on municipal roads during the winter as parked vehicles can hinder snowplows. Vehicles left on roads overnight will be ticketed and towed.
