Gravenhurst lifts Significant Weather Event Declaration: Feb. 28, 2025

The Town of Gravenhurst is lifting its Significant Weather Event declaration, effective 9 a.m. today.

The town declared a significant weather event on Feb. 14.

The declaration suspended the standard timelines to meet winter maintenance objectives.

The town made the declaration because of the high snowbanks along the sides of local roads and the forecast, which called for more snow.

The snowbanks narrowed roads and from a safety perspective created a less-than-ideal situation for pedestrians and motorists.

Given the volume of snow, the town required additional time and help from contractors to widen roads.

Town staff thank residents for their patience during the prolonged cleanup.

Regular winter maintenance operations continue.

Residents with questions or concerns about winter maintenance operations should contact the Infrastructure Services Department at 705-687-3412

Please remember that overnight parking is prohibited on municipal roads during the winter as parked vehicles can hinder snowplows.

Vehicles left on roads overnight will be ticketed and towed.
