Notice of passing Bylaw No. 2024-123 to Redivide Ward Boundaries
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN on this 18th day of December, 2024, in accordance with Section 222(3) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. c. 25, that on December 17, 2024, the Council of the Town of Gravenhurst enacted By-law No. 2024-123 to redivide the wards of the municipality.
TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to Section 222(4) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. c. 25, any person or agency may make an appeal in respect to the By-law to the Ontario Land Tribunal setting out the objections of the By-law and the reasons in support of the objections. A notice of appeal must be filed within 45 days after the By-law to redivide the wards was passed. Appeals are to be filed with the Director of Legislative Services / Clerk at Town Hall (3-5 Pineridge Gate, Gravenhurst, ON P1P 1Z3) no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025. The prescribed fee of $1,100 must be submitted with the appeal in the form of a certified cheque or money order made payable to the “Minister of Finance”.
The personal information accompanying a submission is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. c. 25, and can form part of the public record which may be released to the public.
New Ward System
The redivided ward system maintains the current number of wards – five (5) – and each ward will continue to be represented by one (1) Local Councillor. Including the Mayor and the three (3) at-large District Councillors, Gravenhurst Council will remain at its current size of nine (9) Members.
