Notice - Public Hearing Concerning Development Charges For the Town of Gravenhurst

TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of the Town of Gravenhurst will hold a public meeting pursuant to The Development Charges Act, 1997 on

Wednesday, October 23, 2024
at 3:00 p.m. at the
Gravenhurst Municipal Offices
(Council Chambers)
5 Pineridge Gate
Gravenhurst, Ontario

TO CONSIDER proposed development charge rates and policies that will be applied throughout the Town. It is proposed that enactment of a development charges by-law by Council would occur on a date subsequent to the public meeting.

Development charges are levied against new development, and are a primary source of funding for growth-related capital expenditures. The 2024 Development Charges Background Study relates to the provision of all eligible DC Services (i.e., Development-Related Studies, Library, Parks and Recreation, Fire Protection, Stormwater Drainage and Control, and Services Related to a Highway: Public Works and Roads and Related).

A NOTICE of this meeting has been posted on the Town of Gravenhurst’s website www.gravenhurst.ca, as well as Engage Gravenhurst.

PUBLIC MEETING – Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997, to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2024 Development Charges Background Study, related staff reports and the proposed development charges by-law.

All interested parties are invited to attend the public meeting. Any person may attend the public meeting and make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the by-law. Written submissions are invited and should be directed to Rob Rosilius, Manager of Revenue and Deputy Treasurer, rob.rosilius@gravenhurst.ca no later than 12:00 PM (Noon) on October 22, 2024.  Written comments received prior to the meeting and submissions made at the public meeting will be considered by Council prior to the enactment of a new development charges by-law.

ALTERNATIVELY, any person or agency may also provide verbal comments during the meeting electronically using MVI EasyConf Connect Conference System, in accordance with Section 238 of the Municipal Act and the Town’s Procedural By-law. A request to address Council electronically must completed at www.Gravenhurst.ca/PublicParticipation and submitted prior to 12:00 pm (Noon) on October 22, 2024.  Please note that the public meeting is taking place in person and any issues with electronic participation will not prevent the meeting from proceeding.

A copy of the development charges by-law will be made available on Town’s website on or before Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
