Submit your Terence Haight grant application

Community groups and organizations can now apply for the next round of Terence Haight grants.

Council established the Gravenhurst Terence Haight Financial Assistance Program to provide limited help to community groups and organizations within the municipality. Grant recipients can use the funding to support activities, special events, or improvements to existing assets.

A more than $1 million bequeath from Mr. Terence Haight funds the program. Mr. Haight had family ties in the community and at one time business connections. He passed away in 2008.

“The grant program is a great resource, and we invite all interested parties to apply,” Mayor Heidi Lorenz said. “We are eternally grateful to Mr. Haight for his generous gift, which each year through the grant program has a direct impact on local lives.”

Details on how to apply are available on the town website.

“This is a great opportunity to potentially access a source of funding that can help a group or organization achieve an objective,” economic development coordinator Jennifer Brockett said. “Staff are available to assist with application packages, if required.”

Applications are considered by the town’s Community Grants Committee and ultimately approved by council.

For 2024, the town awarded $30,000 in funding through the grant program.

Recipients included GHS Robotics, Gravenhurst Public School Parents Council, Muskoka Royals Ringette Association, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 302, Severn Bridge Agricultural Society, and YWCA Muskoka Girlz Unplugged.

The deadline to apply for a Terence Haight grant is at 4 p.m. on Dec. 16.
