Autumn Smith of TimberBeast Productions made a presentation to council.
Smith is TimberBeast’s artistic director and executive director.
Hannah Lin, executive director of YWCA Muskoka, made a presentation to council.
Lin provided an overview of the organization and the services it provides.
Council received a presentation on the Community Risk Assessment and Fire Master Plan exercise the Gravenhurst Fire Department is conducting.
The town has retained The Loomex Group as consultants for the project.
The Town of Bracebridge, Town of Gravenhurst, Township of Georgian Bay, Town of Huntsville, Township of Lake of Bays and Township of Muskoka Lakes have joined forces on yet another collaborative project - the development and release of an RFP for a Muskoka Joint Area Municipal Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Climate Change Mitigation Plan.
Council congratulated Kayla Thibeault, director of legislative services and clerk for the Town of Gravenhurst, on receiving her Accredited Ontario Municipal Clerk (AOMC) designation. The Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario says the accreditation certifies a clerk on their education, experience, and professional contributions.
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst proposes to enact a by-law to close, stop up and sell those parts of the original shore road allowance described as follows: That part of the original shore road allowance in front of Lot 29, Concession 12, Township of Morrison, now Town of Gravenhurst, District Municipality of Muskoka, designated as Part 1 on 35R-26850 (Muldrew Lake).
In accordance with the requirements for Schedule B projects of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process, the Town will present study material for public review commencing the week of May 22nd, 2023, which includes the recommended solution.
Council received two deputations on Tuesday. One was regarding residents’ concerns about the Starboard proposal. The other presentation was about blasting concerns near Lookout Park. The blasting took place last year.
Laura Thomas of Hidden Habitat, a native plant nursery in Kilworthy, spoke to council about the need to do more than ‘No Mow May’ to support pollinators. Mayor Heidi Lorenz thanked Thomas for an informative presentation. The mayor said the town will get Thomas on the agenda for an upcoming Sustainability Advisory Committee meeting so that Thomas can share her ideas with committee members.
